I offer counselling in a cozy counselling room in the heart of Newlands.

My areas of special interest are: anxiety, stress, chronic pain or illness, emotional and nervous system regulation, and communication.

However, I welcome clients with a diverse variety of challenges who are looking for a safe and compassionate space to process their difficulties and find a way forward.

The in-office offering is ideal for those who prefer to hold sessions in a quiet, contained space with comfortable chairs and a cup of tea. It is also ideal for those who come straight from work or have busy schedules which make meeting at the premises most convenient.

This space also allows for participation in creative activities such as painting and writing which greatly add to the therapeutic experience.

It can feel daunting taking the first step towards a counselling process, or even finding the right mental health professional who feels like a good fit for you. If you are feeling hesitant, I encourage you to take a deep breath and trust your readiness for change. I am here to honour your unique story, and support you as you discover your way forward. Whenever you are ready to begin, my door is open.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Registered Counsellor and a Psychologist or Psychiatrist?

Registered Counsellors in South Africa (registered with the HPCSA) focus on primary mental health care, psychoeducation, and short-to-medium-term supportive interventions. They work with a wide variety of psychological challenges, but do not treat or diagnose clinical mental health conditions. Psychologists generally focus on deeper psychological assessment, diagnosed conditions and complex psychopathology, while psychiatrists are specialist medical doctors who diagnose mental illness and prescribe medication.

What can I expect during my first counselling session?

Your initial session is a supportive intake session designed for us to get to know one another. We will review confidentiality and administrative framework, discuss what brings you to counselling, and explore what you hope to achieve. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, we move at your own pace to build a safe, collaborative space.

Are counselling sessions confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a foundational principle of professional practice. Everything shared during our sessions remains strictly private, adhering to HPCSA ethical guidelines and POPIA standards. The only exceptions are legal mandates or rare situations where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, which would always be discussed with you whenever possible.

Do you offer online sessions or in-person only??

In-person sessions are offered in a calm, welcoming environment in the Southern Suburbs (Newlands area). Online video sessions are also available for clients across South Africa who prefer the convenience or accessibility of remote support.

How many sessions will I need?

Exact duration varies based on your individual goals and needs. Some clients find clarity and resolution in 4-8 sessions, while others benefit from ongoing periodic check-ins. We will regularly review our progress together to ensure counselling continues to serve you effectively.

How long is each session and how much does it cost?
Session Duration: Standard individual counselling sessions run for 50 minutes.

Rates: Session fees are R700.00 per 50 min session. I am contracted with several medical aids, and while sessions require payment on the day I will provide the correct invoice for you to submit to your medical aid (should you have applicable cover). Sessions with Registered Counsellors are drawn from the medical savings portion of your medical aid.
